Easy Guide: How to Store Holiday Decor in an RV

Have you ever wondered how to store holiday decor in an RV?

If you’re only a part-time RVer, then chances are this isn’t something you have to worry about. But for full-time RVers like us, it can be a more common issue.

Today I’m going to show you how we store holiday decorations in our fifth wheel.

Even if you can’t do exactly the same thing, I hope it helps spark your creativity!

How and When I Decorate Our RV for the Holidays

Some people may decorate for every individual holiday, but we typically don’t.

I usually only decorate for a few main holidays – Valentine’s Day, the 4th of July, fall/Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

That being said, I tend to do a lot more for Thanksgiving and Christmas than most people living in an RV would, haha!

It makes things feel extra festive and helps our trailer feel more like home.

What We Use to Store Our Holiday RV Decor

Every last bit of seasonal decor that we own fits in one large plastic tote, and our Christmas tree box.

The tote contains everything from Valentine’s Day signs and Christmas stockings to decorative pillow covers and fall leaf garlands.

Last year, I even added a few miniature Christmas trees and additional Christmas decorations!

The Christmas tree box holds not only our tree but also most of our additional garland and Christmas lights.

Basically, everything that I could fit into the small space, haha!

Pro Tip: Store things in other things. I fill everything up that I can and use every last inch of space.

For example, the metal sleighs that you can see in the picture below are filled with lots of smaller items instead of just becoming wasted space.

Where We Store Our RV Holiday Decor

We are privileged to have a large attic space in our RV. It was designed to be an extra bunk for a family with kids to sleep in, but we use it for extra storage space.

Our Christmas tree box and our holiday decorations tote are both kept up in the loft along with the rest of our storage.

This makes for an easy way to access it whenever I am ready to swap out seasonal decor without having to keep it somewhere else!

Some RVers also use the pass-through storage on their RV for storing seasonal decor in totes. If you don’t have attic space available then that may be a good solution for you as well.

You could also get creative with other storage space solutions – under the bed, on a shelf at the top of a closet, or in an extra cabinet. Where there’s a will, there’s a way!

It should also be noted that I use command hooks to hang several of my decorations, but I keep those in a more accessible cabinet for use whenever needed.
